Annie Leibovitz-Life Through a Lens Reflection

Annie Leibovitz is a very unique photographer. The documentary Life Through a Lens documented her life as a photographer, mother of three, and viewing life through the lens of her camera. Annie was a well-known and accomplished photographer. She has photographed some of the most iconic photos in the last 30 years; which include several celebrities and public figures. Her work was unique and daring. Some of the greatest work has been shot by Annie and her work is known simply by the technique and the way in which it was shot. To Annie photography is life looking through a lens. She has a series of different types of work such as commercial and print. Her entire life is surrounded around photography. Everything about photography is interesting to her. Her work was eye catching due to her unique style. She practically lived in her car and documented life from the car. Her mother liked photography and it sparked her love for photography. To her the camera was another member of the family. Annie's wife practically pushed her through the doors of the Rolling Stone and this sparked her career as staff photographer. She began to work with other people such as writers and directors. To her the magazine was a blank canvas that needed to be filled with imagery. She never liked to assume anything about anyone until she saw the story herself. She was a big observer. To her you become who and what you are around. She had to become part of what was going on so she could get great shots. She loved being able to travel the world. She was not only a woman photographer but also a queer photographer. I found this documentary very interesting because it allowed me to view photography through the lens of one of the most iconic photographers. This documentary explains why she is so influential in the photography world and how and why she inspired so many to see life and the world through the camera lens.
